Riders’ Guide to Tamarack Bike Park

The terrain is unique at Tamarack with multiple rock slabs and natural drops, giving riders something they don’t often experience in the Intermountain West. For beginners looking for a long gentle descent back to the base, the Pura Vida trail provides smooth, rolling terrain and entry-level features, as well as some stunning views of Lake Cascade.

For those looking for a more challenging run, the Rock Star trail throws some steep and rocky chutes at riders, with a couple of natural rock doubles and smooth rock rolls. This trail merges at the midpoint of the mountain with three options, Stage Fright, Exit Stage Right, and Super G. Stage Fright consists of an extremely steep run into a large natural rock drop, directly beneath the lift, hence the name. Exit Stage Right removes the audience, but is just as technical.

The recent addition of the jump trail Super G offers some man-made perfection to the mostly natural bike park. It provides a top-to-bottom run chock full of table tops and berms for riders to enjoy. More flow and jump trails are in the works as the resort is working to make a number of improvements.

Other favorites in the Tamarack Park include Hibernator—an expert trail with some wooden features and steep rock sections, and Hockey Mom, which is an intermediate trail that is super flowy and fun for a wide range of riders.

The bike park at Tamarack Resort is serviced by the Tamarack Express chairlift, which takes riders from the base area to mid-mountain. From there, riders will have access to more than 20 miles of trail and 1,700 vertical feet of incredible terrain that ranges from beginner to advanced.

WHAT’S NEW AT TAMARACK BIKE PARK

This July, Tamarack will be hosting stop #4 of the Pro GRT Tour, which is also NW Cup race. As a result, Tamarack has freshened up all of their rowdiest trails, and even cut in a few new trail connectors.

Les Mer De Fleurs is a new green trail connecting Pura Vida to Super G. This trail winds through the woods and offers a high-speed option for those who want to skip the top turns of Super G.

The most popular trail at Tamarack, Super G, is in the process of a total makeover with rebuilt high and wide berms.

2018 EVENTS

NW CUP/PRO GRT #4 | July 27th -29th
Stop number four on the USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour comes to Tamarack Resort for the first time. Racers will face a challenging and technical course unique to Central Idaho. The event will be held under the UCI C3 categorization, offering pro racers a chance to pick up valuable UCI points.

TAMARACK TWISTER XC RACE | August 19th
Part of the 2018 Knobby Tires Series, this XC race samples many of Tamarack’s best trails. Sponsored by 10 Barrel Brewing.

BEYOND THE BIKE PARK

Tamarack is a quaint resort with fast lifts and beautiful views, but it’s more than just a bike park. In addition to an extensive cross-country trail system, you can also find dining, lodging, zip lines, rafting and waterfront activities nearby. The shores of Lake Cascade border the base of the resort, providing a large array of water sports to riders and guests onsite. Canoe, kayak, and SUP rentals are plentiful for those looking to try out something new and enjoy the water on their expedition.
